Oct. 2020: Owens Corning and Cisco Volunteers in Action – Invitation to a Netspring Students Celebration for the Franco-Chinese Month of the Environment

These past weeks were extremely fruitful! We are happy to share some highlights of our work and dedication to serving our Netspring students and teachers.

Owens Corning Volunteers with Netspring students in Guangdong
On Nov. 6, 2020, volunteers from Owen Corning Guangdong came to a nearby migrant school to teach children computer drawing and information searching in their Green IT classroom. This class was followed by a handicraft class on environmental protection with a classroom full of joy and laughter.

“Thanks to Netspring and Owens Corning volunteers, your great love and support to our school provides children a better learning environment, sincerely thank you for all your efforts!”
— Teacher Zhang from Guangdong Migrant School

Invitation to celebrate our students’ talent for the Franco-Chinese Month of the Environment
Organized by the French Embassy Institut Français, the 7th Franco-Chinese Month of the Environment takes place from Oct. 17th to Nov. 15th, 2020 with the theme of “Biodiversity Conservation”. Hundreds of events held in 13 cities allow the public and experts to participate and interact together. Aiming to “transform e-waste into e-education”, Netspring is honored to be part of this meaningful event again this year.

This year, with the support of Maverlinn Green Art classes, Netspring organized a digital art competition and the award ceremony will be held on November 13th, 2020 in a Netspring Green IT Classroom near Shanghai. The ceremony will encourage and recognize students’ talent and their art work.

Did you know? What is the connection between biodiversity and Netspring digital art competition?
We have already lost 60% of species and ecosystem functionality as well as 90% of big fish. Netspring digital art competition is therefore about “Biodiversity”. Through digital painting or animation, students can express their thoughts on environmental protection, such as how to protect the planet, oceans and forests, as well as balance human development with biodiversity, such as exploring how to protect animal habitats under the pressure of current population growth and rapid urban expansion, and how humans should change the way they live with animals at a time when more and more animals are on the endangered species list.

We hope the competition help develop Netspring children logical thinking and creativity, whilst learning about biodiversity preservation.

Tech4Good – Cisco volunteers in Action!
In the autumn semester, Cisco volunteers brought a series of volunteering activities for Netspring students. Notably, they taught coding classes to migrant students around Shanghai and animation design which inspired the children to discover the digital world and new environmental topics.

Grateful Thanks to L’Oréal China Teams for their computers contribution
For the second time, L’Oréal China supported Netspring Green IT programs by contributing obsolete computers on Nov. 2nd,2020. We will recycle them to support the “circular economy” and give them a second life in our underprivileged schools. How happy our teachers and students will be!
