On the occasion of the new year and for the upcoming new semester, Netspring team will continue to empower the schools and communities in need and reduce digital inequality by transforming e-waste into e-learning. We are happy to share news on new openings with key partners such as FORVIA and UPS. Moreover, the annual AmCham Shanghai e-waste drive will take place during Earth Day celebration: we sincerely invite you to join us on Apr. 19, 2024 (Friday).

Looking ahead, in 2024, despite challenging global conditions, we will strive to further innovate for more impact with our partners.

FORVIA Green IT Classroom Inspiring Tomorrow successfully opened in Baguazhou, Nanjing
Following the successful launch of the first FORVIA Green IT classroom in Zhangzhou at the beginning of 2023, FORVIA's CSR stepped into Nanjing. Along the Yangtze River, FORVIA Green IT classroom themed with “Inspiring Tomorrow” was successfully opened on Baguazhou Island. On the event day, Faurecia China President, Executive Vice President Human Resources HELLA Asia Pacific, and nearly 30 volunteers from Faurecia and HELLA Nanjing came to Baguazhou and attended the inauguration ceremony together with teachers and student representatives of the school. Faurecia and HELLA jointly provided 30 refurbished computers, contributing to the circular economy while protecting the environment, providing students and teachers with access to information resources, and spreading the concept of sustainability. This opening also marked the 11th Green IT Classroom supported by FORVIA Group.

"Problems such as resource scarcity and environmental pollution are common challenges facing all mankind. As a leading automotive technology company, we believe that acting responsibly is the key to ensuring sustainable development, and we insist on playing an important role in this. Through the Green IT Program, we hope to help children explore the world and contribute to a greener future."
__Faurecia China President

Baguazhou Island is the largest island in Nanjing and the third largest island in the Yangtze River. It is known as "Green Island in the river". The sustainable story of FORVIA and Baguazhou Island is orderly unfolding. The volunteers also prepared rich and interesting activities, demonstrated the harm of e-waste in the green IT classroom, and co-created with students a series of animations with the theme of "reducing electronic pollution on Baguazhou Island". In the environmental handicraft class, volunteers and children worked together to make creative handmade works from leaves picked from Baguazhou Island. These activities let the "seeds" of ecological environmental protection take root and sprout in the hearts of children. Netspring team looks forward to further promotion of green environmental awareness in the green IT classroom while providing learning resources for the local community, and also thanks FORVIA Group and its volunteers for their support and hard work.

"It turns out that electronic products such as mobile phones and computers are also severe hazards. I will share what I have learned today with my family and work together to protect the earth."

UPS opens its First Green IT Classroom in Guangzhou

Following the warm winter sun, Netspring team came to Guangzhou, by close collaboration with UPS, we witnessed the first UPS green IT classroom in a local migrant school which was successfully inaugurated on Dec. 20, 2023 and UPS volunteers also contributed more than 200 books to enrich the library collection of the school. The partnership between Netspring and UPS started with the AmCham Shanghai E-waste Recycling Drive in August 2022. Netspring also joined hands again with UPS in its Volunteering Activity Month in 2023, actively mobilizing employees to collect hundreds of unused electronic products, books and other electronic waste to support underprivileged students in need.

UPS is the world's leading logistics company, with operations in more than 220 countries and territories around the world, moving customers' important items while also focusing on environmental protection and encouraging employees to actively participate in volunteering activities. In this activity, UPS volunteers started with IT skills and environmental protection knowledge, expanding students' way of thinking and enriching students' extracurricular knowledge. After the volunteers exchanged with the students about western traditional festivals and Chinese traditional intangible cultural heritage, they also cut different shapes of window flowers together with the students to celebrate the upcoming traditional Spring Festival in advance.

Our volunteers use computers to build up a bridge of love for students, broaden their horizons, and improve their digital literacy. In the digital era, different regions have different levels of information technology and tools, forming a digital divide, but computers and the Internet have provided more possibilities for this generation of minors. A small action is not only a step forward for educational equality, but more importantly, hopefully, it can bring more vivid imagination about the world for those children.

"The previous IT classroom at the school were not sufficient to meet the daily teaching needs, and the library collection was very old. On behalf of the school, I would like to express my sincere thanks to UPS and Netspring team for helping the school solve its current problems and providing better teaching resources."
